Comfortably situated in the heart of the Sisters’ St. Paul campus, MCHCE serves the CSJ Community in multiple ways – through both individual ethics consultation and Community-wide education, consultation for other CSJ Ministries and CSJ organizational partnerships, promotion of Sponsor collaborations around their common community outreach and social justice goals, and advocacy for the health and wellness needs of the CSJ Community itself.

On any given day, we can be found

  • Helping Sisters with their advance care planning needs, including planning for dementia
  • Engaging in health-related advocacy for Sisters
  • Providing individual clinical ethics consultation
  • Advocating for Sisters’ needs across the continuum of care
  • Developing Community-level policies on a variety of ethics-related topics
  • Educating the Community through lectures and newsletter articles on POLST, dementia, palliative care, the Affordable Care Act, access to care for the uninsured and underserved
  • Engaging in ongoing foundational research on clinical ethics and elder law topics
  • Supporting other CSJ Ministries, including providing organizational ethics consultation to the St. Mary’s Health Clinics
  • Building partnerships among our Sponsors and their community outreach initiatives
